I Graduated from school
N11 with several subjects taught in English. Completed
degree in Mathematics at Kuibyshev
State University.
Worked
as the teacher of Mathematics, programmer, teacher of Informatics.
In 1994/95 studied Library and Information Science
at Simmons college, Boston,
USA.I was happy to get 3-months internship at the Media Center of Gutman
library (Graduate School of Education,
Harvard University). It was possible due to the grant of Freedom Support
Act program (IREX foundation).
I am grateful to all wonderful teachers of school N11,
who have influenced my life. They
are: Marycheva A.N., Kozyreva N.V., Komarova V.P., Schekotikhin M.I., Belchikova
E.P. and others.
Special word about my beloved teacher. (She taught us
only for 4 months, but inspired me to become an educator, and continues
to encourage me during all the life).
I am happy to serve as the "bridge" between peoples of Russia and the USA. Being involved as the interpreter (facilitator) in the visits of Russian groups to the USA within the
"Open World" program in 1999, 2003, I tried to fulfill a cultural mission. In October 2003 together with the Russian librarians group I was declared an "Honorary Citizen of the City of Bellingham". Proud of that honorary title.
I would like to invite you to admire my native land in the photoalbum "SAMARA. VOLGA. ZHIGULI.".
It is opened on September 24, 2002. Includes 283 pictures.
I am not sure what does the success in life mean, but my "Success story" was published in the book by US Department of State Regional Initiative in Samara Region. It is also placed on their web site.
I invite you to read Review of Samara region web sites, which have English versions. It was made in 2000, so sorry, if some links may become out of date.
Nowdays I moderate the following Internet resources (all in Russian):
- "SamNetDa!" - "Samara Education Internet News"
- Put the list "Recommended Links for Educators" on Education Development Center server
I edit sites:
- Samara city Education Development Center (one page also in English :-)
- "Information Culture of Youth"
Due to the grants, won in the competitions for US Alumni, 4 projects were implemented:
(all in Russian):
- "Our Kids in Internet"
- "Internet for Citizen Formation" (report on the site also in English)
- Internet Game within "Historic Dialogue" project
- "Internet in Libraries of the USA and Russia"
In 1998-2000 I moderated two mailing lists:
- grantkeepers of Open Society Institute, which collaborated with
Samara State University Internet Center (1998-2000)
- "News for Libraries of Volga Region" (1999-2000)
Worked out the list of recommended links:
- "Internet for Libraries"
Have edited sites:
- Samara State University Internet Center
If
you'd like to see the places, where I live and which I love, loook at the
hypermediabook
"O, Volga, Cradle Mine!" (mirror: http://volgadeti.samara.ru/index_e.html), which is created by the schoolchildren on
my idea. The nice photo, which was taken by my son on the Molodecky kurgan
above the Volga river, became the symbol of the project.
As the lover of the "author's (bard's)" guitar songs, I have being visiting
Grushin Festival since
1976.In 2002 and 2004 during the days of the Festival my digital photos of Festival life were published on the official Festival web site by "Samara-Internet".
Here are the links:

My beloved author is Olga
Kachanova (from Alma-Ata). She got a nice site.
In 1998 she released CD "Red Bird" (in Russian).
Let me intoduce you to the song of mine, which was inspired
by the one, written by Olga. The part of this song "The Walk through the
City of my Childhood" was translated in English for the Boston Women's
Voice Festival - 95, in which I was happy to take part.
THE WALK THROUGH THE CITY OF MY CHILDHOOD
Dedicated to my Samara city on the Volga river
Next to Philarmonic hall was my childhood settled,
it seems to be so close, but impossible to reach!..
Walking through the past here can not be avoided,
though so much water has flown under the bridge...
Streets speed to fall into the Volga river,
sunset in August beautifies them all.
After it flamed, the stars above embankment
remain to shine - the years haven't flown at all!

The impressive illustrations to this song you may find on
the site with pictures drawn by our well-known architect Karkarian V.
ROZALIYA IOSIFOVNA SONIS -
GENUINE pedagogue
I would like everybody to feel this happiness - to
meet such person.
Teacher, being awarded as "Methodist", superior mathematician.
She not only taught, but brought up hundreds of pupils.
40 YEARS she is in teaching.
Her classes always mean serious work,
they mean mutual understanding,
they mean joy of intercourse.
I wish you, my dear Roza Iosifovna, good health and
unlimited joy from your students!
I dedicated several poems and songs to her (the
last one see on the Russian page).
